The Capital Line

Columbus’ Pathway to the Future

Columbus, Ohio, is set to redefine urban mobility and connectivity with its ambitious new project, The Capital Line. And, it looks to put Magic Escape Rooms in the center of the action: High & Gay streets! This visionary initiative promises to create a seamless pedestrian and bike pathway through the heart of the city, linking neighborhoods, attractions, and job centers in a way that prioritizes sustainability, community, and accessibility.

A Community-Driven Vision

Born from the suggestions of Columbus residents and highlighted in the 2022 Downtown Columbus Strategic Plan, the Capital Line is more than just a path; it’s a two-mile journey that embodies the spirit of the city. The project is a testament to the power of public-private partnerships and the city’s commitment to responding to the needs and dreams of its citizens.

The intersection of High & Gay Streets will come alive with events & things to do.

The Route to Revitalization

The Capital Line will stretch from the vibrant Gay Street District (where Magic Escape Rooms is located!), across the iconic Broad Street Bridge to The Peninsula, and along Fourth Street, creating a direct route to some of Columbus’ most beloved attractions. Along the way, residents and visitors will encounter the gravity-defying Current sculpture, the serene Scioto Mile riverfront, the National Veterans Memorial & Museum, and the bustling Columbus Commons, among others.

More Than a Pathway

What sets the Capital Line apart is its commitment to enhancing the pedestrian experience. The route will be dotted with public art, cozy street furniture, and lush landscaping, transforming the urban walk into an immersive cultural experience. It’s not just about getting from point A to point B; it’s about enjoying the journey. Special events are are going to be held on Gay and High Streets, helping to transform this area of downtown into the next “Short North.” We hope that our Columbus Escape Room can be a part of the entertainment found within this district!

Economic and Social Catalyst

The Capital Line is poised to be a catalyst for economic investment and social connection. It will not only elevate Columbus’ existing assets but also spur the development of new ones along the pathway. This includes a curated set of art and experiences that celebrate Columbus’ rich history and bright future.

Looking Ahead

Design for the initial section of the Capital Line will begin this year, with construction slated to start in 2025. As the city selects a design team this spring, community outreach will play a crucial role in shaping the project to reflect the needs and spirit of Columbusites.

The Capital Line is more than a project; it’s a promise to the people of Columbus—a promise of a connected, sustainable, and vibrant urban life. As we look forward to the shovels hitting the ground, we can all share in the excitement for what’s to come: a Columbus that’s more walkable, more bikeable, and more connected than ever before.
